On Monday afternoon, members of the UMD Police Department were called to Hagerstown Hall, where a female student reported a Peeping Tom who was spying on her while she was in the bathroom.
According to investigators, the student said she was inside the bathroom when she saw a cellphone peering over the shower curtain, prompting her to shout and the suspect to scamper off down a nearby staircase.
At the time of the incident, police say that the man involved was wearing a white hoodie and light-colored jeans. No other descriptive information was provided by investigators.
The incident is now being probed by the University of Maryland Police Department's Criminal Investigations Unit.
